Georgia rifle season, cool afternoon, and sneaking into a spot we’d never hunted before. Scrapes were everywhere, deer were moving, and it felt like one of those evenings where something might happen if you just stayed ready. Then it all happened fast. A doe came through and started to bust us. An eight-point stepped out right behind her, and I had seconds to make a decision. The shot was solid. The deer went down. I also scoped myself in the process and earned a battle scar to go with the memory! Not the prettiest hunt. Not the cleanest video. But a mature Georgia eight point that we’ve been watching for years finally hit the ground. Sometimes hunts don’t go according to plan, but those are usually the ones you remember the most. South Wheeler County, Georgia. McWhorter 7 PRC. Grateful for a good evening hunt and a deer on the ground.
